Riley's 2nd Birthday Party!

Although he won't turn 2 until Wednesday, we celebrated Riley's 2nd birthday on Sunday. The theme...Mickey Mouse, which currently tops Riley's list of favorite characters (Elmo and Curious George are a close second and third). First, we started out with some appetizers and noise makers...Nini and Artie tried to teach Riley how they work. Then it was dinner time...pasta (mac and cheese for the kids, chicken alfredo and meaty ziti for the adults), salad and breadsticks were on the menu.

After dinner, cake and ice cream time!

A berry delight cake with Mickey on it (no, I cannot take credit for the cake...however, I did put the candle on it!).

And then last but not least, presents! Riley opened a couple and said "All done!" and tried to squirm out of Cody's arms. He still had about twenty five presents left to open (yes, we went overboard yet again...hey, you only turn two once in your life!).

Cody convinced Riley to keep going and enlisted the help of Nini, Artie, and Jace to help open the rest of the presents.

Jace was a good big cousin and was happy to help...we only had to remind him on every present to bring it over to Riley and let him help instead of tearing into all of them on his own!

The last present...Riley's new kitchen. Riley liked banging on the box and jumping up and down because it made everyone laugh. He may turn into a little ham after all!

So our little man will turn 2 on Wednesday...that's gymnastics night so we will be celebrating with some jumping and tumbling. Very appropriate since that's one of Riley's favorite activities! Sorry for the lack of posts this past week...I've been a little uninspired and busy. I have a feeling this will be a better week for blog posts!
